History of Osaka Castle

Toyotomi Hideyoshi decided that Osaka would be his base for unifying the country, and in 1583 he began construction of the most majestic Osaka Castle.

It took about 15 years to complete and was four to five times larger than the current size, with a golden castle tower towering in the center of the main enclosure.
However, Osaka Castle, which had been destroyed by numerous upheavals and natural disasters, underwent a major renovation in the Heisei era to revive the original castle tower, resulting in what it looks like today.
